Casey Aschauer joins GWIS Leadership Team

May 16, 2022

Gorge Women in STEM (GWIS “Gee-whiz”) recently welcomed Sierra-Olympic’s Engineering Documentation Specialist Casey Aschauer to their Leadership Team. Casey has been on staff here with us since June of 2021, and has lived in the Gorge since 2009. Like the Star Trek character Nyota Uhura played by Nichelle Nichols, Casey believes that “science is not a boy’s game, it’s not a girl’s game. It’s everyone’s game.” Casey will be bringing her technical writing expertise to the GWIS team to help with development of their digital presence.

GWIS notes on their website that they “started in late 2017 as a group dedicated to connecting and supporting women working in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math in the Columbia River Gorge. Coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, GWIS is focused on rebuilding our community and reminding women throughout the Columbia River Gorge that we are here to support them and help them thrive. Participation in GWIS events is open to all women and allies that align with the mission of the group.”

GWIS is supported by the Gorge Tech Alliance and 2022 sponsors Overwatch Imaging and SightLine Applications. Our community benefits from GWIS’s advocacy and from thier many professional, social, and networking events, which are accessible via their events calendar. Sierra-Olympic is very proud to be represented by Casey on the GWIS Leadership Team – thank you for your leadership, Casey!
